不论主题为颂赞、感恩或浪漫、喜乐，圣诞颂歌世界永远是旋律优美迷人赞美诗歌的宝库。本片为美国 BMG/RCA 公司 Gold Seal 系列另一佳作。曲目企划得十分周详、而充满上尚的感恩，耳熟能详的著名圣诗应有尽有，包括《新生王歌（Hark! The Herald Angels Sing）》、《小小鼓手（The Little Drummer Boy）》、《乐驾雪橇（Sleigh Ride）》；此外还有巴赫的清唱剧《心、口、行止与生活（Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben，BWV 147）》最广为人知的《主啊，吾民仰望的喜悦（Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring）》，以及亨德尔清唱剧《弥赛亚》的《哈利路亚大合唱（Hallelujah）》；更有体现奥曼迪对于俄国伟大作品的偏爱——柴可夫斯基芭蕾舞剧《胡桃夹子》的《花之圆舞曲（Waltz of the Flowers）》。约翰·德兰西（John DeLancie，1921-2002）的双簧管独奏明净、庄严，超技流畅，在著名的三连音旋律中，与管弦乐背景一唱一和、交相辉映，窜出飘在高处的长音说着“耶稣必仍为我一生的喜悦”，仿佛陈述着超越万境都无法改变的信心。
费城管弦乐团、合唱团的演出造型坚固、质感芬芳，足以使听者感觉贵如皇胄。本片是1971年4月、1972年2月录制，音响和音乐一样，并非让人一见钟情的类型，但具有酒般的精醇，令人百听不厌。
