.电影的大部分场景都是在百老汇的圣詹姆斯剧院内拍摄。为了达到一镜到底的效果，演员们通常需要一次完成长达15页剧本的内容，并且按照严格的走位，不能有丝毫差池。

.开机前，伊纳里图给他的卡司成员们看了菲利浦·佩帝(著名杂技演员)在双子塔之间走钢丝的照片，他告诉他们“伙计们，这就是我们将要拍摄的电影。如果我们跌倒，我们将一败涂地”。

.三位主演都曾出演过著名的漫画改编角色：迈克尔·基顿曾经在蒂姆·伯顿执导的蝙蝠侠系列中饰演蝙蝠侠，爱德华·顿诺曾出演绿巨人，而艾玛·斯通在《神奇蜘蛛侠》中饰演格温·斯黛茜。

.电影开拍两周前，伊纳里图与迈克·尼科尔斯(《毕业生》导演)一起共进晚餐。当被告知伊纳里图打算用一镜到底的方式拍摄《鸟人》时，尼科尔斯告诫他这将会是一场灾难。但是伊纳里图并未有退缩。

.拍摄期间，诺顿与基顿记录下了演员们NG的次数。艾玛·斯通犯错最多，而扎克·加利费安纳基斯犯错最少。

.诺顿与加利费安纳基斯都声称自己是基顿的影迷。诺顿还列出了他小时候最喜欢的三部由基顿主演的电影，分别是《夜班》(1982)、《家庭主夫》(1983)与《甲壳虫汁》(1988)。

.迈克尔·基顿在2005年演出的影片《Game 6》与本片相似，也是以纽约戏剧界为背景，基顿的角色同样经历着中年危机。

.本片是迈克尔·基顿6年来首次在一部影片中担当主演。他上一部主演的电影《The Merry Gentleman》是在2008年，而且是由他本人执导的。

.影片配乐被剥夺入围奥斯卡提名资格，媒体猜测是奥斯卡音乐评审认为影片的纯鼓点节奏不能称之为“乐”，因为它没有旋律，这个决定引发了很大的争议。

Riggan is a man struggling to make his mark in the world. Having achieved fame 
as "Birdman", he voluntarily walked away from the on screen role, and battled the 
inner voices that had him believe he was more powerful than anyone could imagine. 
Old, irrelevant, but still driven, Riggan has chosen to pursue his dream of honoring 
the man who inspired him over 20 years ago. Riggan and those around him are all 
facing similar battles, but seem to be unaware of any but their own. Determined to 
make his play a success, he overcomes obstacle after obstacle in order to ensure 
it is a success on the stage. Surrounded by his daughter and the actors he's 
chosen, Riggan works to come to terms with the realities of life. Moments of brutal 
honesty affect him and those around him. Nearly everyone finds themselves in both 
positions, of giving and receiving the words they need to hear in that moment. 
Riggan attempts to let himself truly feel what he needs to so he can find inner 
peace and freedom. Opening night finds him offering the performance of 
his life for more reasons than one, and the success of that night will make or 
break the future of his play. Like everything else, his handling of events 
is affected by demons only he is aware of.
