　　还记得《阿甘正传》一片中，阿甘与美国总统握手的电影特效吗？其栩栩如生的效果，曾在全世界引起了一阵风潮。其实早在此片之前，导演Carl Reiner就曾经尝试将当代喜剧演员们的演出、与过去知名演员演出的老片，剪接在一起。因此造就了这今天所说的部创意十足的爆笑喜剧片《大侦探对大明星(Dead Men Don''t Wear Plaid)》。

　　此片可说是对40年代的侦探电影致敬的作品，由Steve Martin与导演Carl Reiner共同编写，史蒂夫．马丁饰演一名私家侦探，受命调查一名科学家的死亡真相 ，但是在调查的过程中，他遇上了一大群稀奇古怪的嫌疑犯.....

　　为了与那些经典老片中的影像片段剪接在一起，全片采黑白两色拍摄，如此片中新旧两代的演员，才能天衣无缝的连接在一起。影片利用巧妙的剪接和导演技巧，把好莱坞大明星集体搬上银幕，加以戏谑逗笑，对影迷而言实在是一种无上的娱乐。《刺鸟》女主角雷切尔．沃德，在片中扮演一名性感的客户。
